Our StoryHopscotch Kids (Lila Natural Cosmetics, Inc.) was founded by Ginny Cardenas, a mother of four young children -- three girls and one boy, who was looking for a healthier alternative to the toxin-laden "girly girl" products that currently saturate the cosmetics industry.In 2002, Ginny's eldest daughter contracted RSV. During the struggle to get her daughter healthy she became aware of the role chemicals played in her family's health and well-being. Whether it was creating meals from all-natural foods, cleaning her home using safe and natural products, or finding personal care products that were non-toxic, it became Ginny's goal to provide her family with a healthy environment. As the girls grew a bit older, dress up and playing with their mother's makeup became a favorite activity. Staying true to her all-natural philosophy, Ginny searched for safe yet kid-friendly nail polish and lip glosses her daughters could play with. Ginny's search was frustrating and down right scary at the same time. She found most of the cosmetics marketed to children contained harsh, industrial chemicals at odds with marketing claims on the product labels. Tired of toxicity warnings and recalls, and the lack of safe products for her children to use, Ginny decided to found Hopscotch Kids.
